One day in beautiful Lori province

The region of Lori is high mountains, thick forests, green landscapes, and ancient monasteries.
You can choose routes of various degrees of difficulty in the mountains of Lori. One of the most pleasant and relatively light rout starts in Odzun village, goes to Oromayr monastery, and ends in Kobayr Monastery. This one-day tour allows you to watch the fabulously beautiful nature of the region, its mountain landscapes, get some portion of light extreme, and also hear few stories of ancient times in Lori’s monasteries.
Odzun monastery (VI century A.D.) has a rare specific architectural solution – an outer gallery holding an inner gallery from three sides. There’s one more mystic construction placed to the north of the monastery – memorial headstone – two steals made of bluestone and carved with unrepeated ornaments from all sides. If we’re lucky we will meet the priest of Odzun and hear some more stories about the monastery.
The next monastery in our route is Oromayr (XII century A.D., though it has mentions since the VII century), it is amazing by its placement – looks like it goes out of steep rocks, which is true – it has cavity monastic cells inside.
Kobayr monastery – one more of the pearls of Armenian medieval architecture hidden in Lori’s forests – is the last monastery on our way. It is famous for the well-preserved monumental frescoes of XII century A.D.
The last point of the tour is going to be the restaurant Gntunik with delish Armenian cuisine – a good place to finish impressions of the day.
